Girls and Boys Maktab at Masjid Abu Bakr Billesley

At Masjid Abu Bakr Billesley, we offer Maktab classes to educate and nurture our youth in their Islamic journey. Our curriculum focuses on teaching the Qur’an with authentic tajweed, while also acquiring the values and practices of living as a true mu’min.

Students also learn Hadith and essential masa’il (Islamic rulings), with regular assessments to track progress. At the end of the year, outstanding students are recognised and celebrated during a prestigious prize ceremony.

Taught by Qualified Professionals
Our children are taught by qualified and professional teachers with extensive experience in imparting Islamic education to young learners. For your peace of mind, all teachers are DBS checked, ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for our children.

Key Details:

• Age Group: Children aged 5 and above, up to teenage years
• Class Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
• Segregation: Boys and girls have separate classes, entrances, and facilities

Tajweed Classes for Adults (16+)

Alhamdulillah, we are delighted to offer Tajweed classes for brothers aged 16 and above at Masjid Abu Bakr Billesley.

Many brothers may not have had the opportunity to attend madrasah during childhood or may have forgotten how to read the Qur’an correctly. This class provides an excellent chance to learn (or re-learn) Qur’anic recitation and strengthen your connection with the Glorious Qur’an, Insha’Allah.

What You Will Learn:

• the correct pronunciation of Arabic letters
• how to read the Qur’an fluently with all tajweed rules
• practical guidance for improving your recitation

Class Details:

• Level: Beginner – friendly (no prior knowledge required)
• Schedule: Weekly sessions on Monday evenings (flexible timing)
• Location: Masjid-e-Abu Bakr Billesley

Nikkah Services at Our Masjid

e are honoured to offer Nikkah (Islamic Marriage) services at our masjid, providing a sacred and serene setting for couples to begin their journey together in accordance with Islamic tradition.

Our Nikkah service includes:

• Conducting the Nikkah ceremony by a qualified Imam
• Use of the masjid facilities for the ceremony
• Issuance of a Nikkah certificate
• Guidance on Islamic marital principles

Booking & Requirements:

To arrange a Nikkah ceremony, please contact the masjid office in advance. We kindly ask for:

• Valid photo ID for both bride and groom
• Presence of two adult Muslim witnesses
• Consent from the bride and groom
• Completion of a short pre-Nikkah consultation with the Imam

Additional Notes:

• We recommend coordinating with your families and guests ahead of time.
• The masjid does not currently offer wedding receptions or catering services.
• All arrangements must align with Islamic guidelines and the masjid’s policies.

We are pleased to offer Hifdh classes for boys, providing a structured and supportive environment to memorize the Glorious Qur’an. Our experienced teachers guide students with care, ensuring they develop a deep connection with the Qur’an while mastering memorization with correct tajweed.

The Virtue of Memorizing the Qur’an
Allah says in the Qur’an:

بَلْ هُوَ آيَاتٌۭ بَيِّنَـٰتٌۭ فِى صُدُورِ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلْعِلْمَ ۚ وَمَا يَجْحَدُ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ إِلَّا ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ

“Rather, the Qur’an is a collection of clear signs preserved in the hearts of those who have been given knowledge. And none denies Our signs except the wrongdoers.”
— Surah Al-Ankabut (29:49)

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) also said:
“The best of you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.”
— Sahih al-Bukhari, 5027
