Monthly Litter Picking Action Day

Alhamdulillah, on Sunday, 5 July 2026, members of our local Masjid came together for our very first Community Litter Picking Action Day. Volunteers of all ages helped clean our local streets and public spaces, demonstrating our shared responsibility to care for the environment and take pride in our neighbourhood.

Following the success of this event, we are committed to making litter picking a monthly community activity. We also hope to introduce Street Champions—local residents who will help organise clean-up activities on their streets, promote safer and cleaner neighbourhoods, report issues such as potholes and damaged streetlights to the council, and encourage a stronger sense of community responsibility.

Allah says in the Qur’an:

إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِينَ

“Indeed, Allah loves those who do good.”
(Qur’an 2:195)

The Prophet ﷺ also said:

“Removing harmful things from the road is an act of charity.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari & Sahih Muslim)

Together, we can create cleaner streets, safer communities, and a better environment for everyone.
